Spring Play

On April 7th and 8th, 2022 the production of Steel Magnolias was performed at the West Salem Heider Center. A group of actresses put on this performance for a large number of people. Senior Molly Roberts shares her experience performing in this play, “The last time I was in a play was middle school. I decided to try out as an alternative to track. I have learned that being a good actress means fully embodying and embracing your role.”

Steel Magnolias was originally supposed to be “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by Shakespeare, but after consideration Directors Mrs. Andres and Ms. Nimm decided to choose a different play. The cast looked for a new play that Mrs. Andres would love since she will be retiring at the end of the year.

This production did have its difficult moments at times. The actresses lost a week of practices due to the band and choir Disney trip. On the 26 hour bus ride they practiced memorizing their lines. Hard work was put into this production and it paid off. Steel Magnolias was an incredible performance with many actresses who will be missed next year.
