In one of his 16-minute episodes, “What You Try to Control, Controls You,” Eyan Bryant discusses how the things we try to control make our lives unenjoyable because instead of living in the moment, we are always worrying about trying to manipulate situations so we can control them. He says that once we let ourselves live in grace, our life starts to flow in ways that we can enjoy instead of living about the fact that we are a subject in our own stories. We forget to realize we write our own stories, not anyone else. We can see how much of what we are, and who we are, is determined by who is around us. Because of that, we are not able to express ourselves, or we aren’t able to see the true capacity to which we can do things. Because of this inability, we lose each part of ourselves. So we must always be present, instead of trying to control or be controlled by people and time.
Episode: What You Try to Control, Controls You
When listening to this episode “What You Try to Control, Controls You,” it provides the listeners with the benefit of emotional intelligence. Helping the listeners identify what may control them in their lives, but also what they may try to control in their lives instead of just living them. Just listening to Eyan speak, however, is not the same as passively listening to him. You want to fully absorb his wise remarks on how to self-evaluate oneself while taking action and unlocking a self that does not control nor be controlled, so we are able to live a happy life.
Eyan Bryant started Profound Pondering to give his listeners his insight on life and what it has to offer, but also tell people about his own experiences in life and how he has tried to change it with the certain topic of each episode. I love to listen to him because of how he makes my brain process the things he says and implement them into my own life, and he has an episode for everything I want to know or learn about in life.
