What We Should Be Listening To
The reason for listening to a portion of an episode of the podcast “Rookie CEO” (3:05 – 11:51) is to open ourselves up to another person’s ideas on how to build quality relationships in our lives. There are six ways that Grace, the host, gives as examples of how to do this. And while they may not always make the most sense initially, she does a good job of explaining her ideas and the reasoning behind each of them.
For her first example, she states, “People are just people.” She follows this up by saying that relationships are best formed when we are our true selves, not pretending to be someone or something else. Listen specifically for her second idea that is opening yourself up to others by being vulnerable will encourage them to do the same, which will take your relationship to a deeper level. Her next idea is to just be happy. She continues by talking about how people like to work with nice people. Listen for ideas on how being kind when working with others makes it much easier to build quality relationships with them. Her fourth example of how to build meaningful relationships is to not have an agenda. Having an agenda takes away the possibility of building a relationship on a deeper level. Additionally, she encourages us to ask questions because people like talking about themselves and asking questions is a great way to learn more about someone. Lastly, she tells us to offer to help others because offering to help can go a long way when building a relationship.
To wrap up, Grace decided to host her podcast, “Rookie CEO,” to talk about her journey in the business management world and listening to what she has to say about building relationships would be beneficial to anyone.
