After 40 minutes we had completed our quest. We were overjoyed because we had become the first to have uncovered the mystery of the top 5 water fountains in West Salem High School. 5. The Band Room Water Fountain
The band room water fountain is notorious for its cold water and for being often forgotten. However, this fountain comes with some flaws. The first of its flaws is its location. The fountain is far away and hidden behind a wall that many students do not know of its existence. The second flaw that comes with this fountain is of course the lack of a bottle filler, but also its ‘shootage’. The water that comes out of the bubbler tends to over shoot immensely which can cause splashing, spills, and unwanted messes on your clothes and face. On the positive side of things, this water fountain offers you a chilly experience with its freezing cold water. Perfect for hot summer days for the marching band.
4. Mrs. Deal’s Water Fountains
What makes this water fountain a top five member is for its deliciously cold water, and accessibility. I remember trying to find a bathroom around the english classrooms, and was surprised by finding this gem. It had both a fountain and bathrooms, and right next to my class too. The accessibility of this fountain is indeed outstanding. Many students use this fountain to fill up there bottles, have a quick drink, or to simply chat with friends. The only downside of this fountain is how the water started out slightly warm, but quickly changed to a cool temperature. Although, you can think about it in an opportunistic way. Patience leads to tastiness.

3. The Math Hallway Water Fountains
I originally had these fountains placed second, but after careful consideration I bumped them down. The water tasted great, to me, and it was very cold. The reason why I moved it down from 2nd place was simply because of the bottle filler. It was efficient, dispensed cold water, but it lacked an important aspect when it comes to bottle filling. It didn’t know when to stop filling. It continued to overflow non-stop until I stepped in to keep my water bottle from drowning. It was truly devastating to see such good fountains be tarnished just for one thing. You really can’t teach an old fountain new tricks.

2. The Girl’s Locker Room Side Water Fountains
I was surprised to find out that a locker room fountain would place this high, but here it is. I was baffled by the frigid temperature of the water because I had always thought it was always warm. I guess you can’t judge a fountain by its looks. This fountain was also very clean, and for clean freaks, like myself, this made the experience all the better. What really stood out to me was not only the efficiency of the bottle filler, but the preciseness. I placed my bottle there thinking I would have to wait there for a solid two minutes, but instead it was less than a minute. It even stopped at the perfect amount, so it didn’t overflow. These fountains rightfully deserve this spot at second place.

1. The Heider Center Water Fountains
These water fountains are the cream of the crop. This fountain is only known for one thing, and it’s for being the top fountain in the school. It’s cold, reliable, and quick. This is the fountain that comes in to save the day when you’re craving for a cold sip of H2O in passing time. The time it took to fill my bottle was mere seconds. The feeling I received after drinking this water was practically rewarding. As soon the water came in contact with my mouth, I knew it would be number one.

Although these are the best water fountains that can be found in West Salem High School, it is agreed upon by the student body that the water is ‘mid’. This could stem from the quality of the water throughout West Salem. The water in West Salem is distributed between three water systems, and have a combined total of 41 contaminants. These contaminants don’t put anyone at risk, but they could be the cause of the taste in the tap water (According to inthetap.com).While the water might be the greatest you could ever drink, it is drinkable and not half bad. Hopefully this list frees you from thirst, and helps readers, like you, plan more effective routes for getting water.
