On Tuesday, April 26th, the boys baseball team took on the Tomah Timberwolves.
The game started in favor of West Salem. Getting 4 runs in the first inning the team had a comfortable lead. Playing a good round of defense, the boys didn’t let up a single run. Going into the top of the second the team was able to get multiple players on base. They were able to score more runs and made the score 7-0. Letting up a few runs the boys were still in the lead at the end of the fifth, the score being 10-7.
The sixth inning was not a strong inning for the team. Giving up 5 more runs the Timberwolves took the lead, and kept it to the end of the inning. In the top of the seventh with two outs Kellen Wright was able to get on base and advance to third. Tomah’s pitcher throws a wide pitch that gets past their catcher, Wright was able to score, making the score 12-11. Not able to keep the hitting streak alive the boys lost 12-11.
The next time they take the field will be on Thursday, April 28th, in a double header match-up against the Luther Knights. The game will be played at home, and the first game will start at 4:00 and the second game will follow shortly after the first game ends.
