Girl’s Tennis

Girls+Tennis

As of Thursday, September 9th, the girls tennis team has a record of 5-7 and 2-0 in the conference. Varisty and JV won both of their matches 7-0. The team will play a conference match up against Luther on Thursday, the 15th, at 4:15, and they will have a conference tournament at Black River Falls. The doubles teams are very strong this season with Kate Skaar ‘23 and Elly Goodenough ‘23 leading the team. The second ranked doubles team is Rebekah Knudson ‘23 and Grace Waldhart ‘23 with third being Eva Clements ‘23 and Asher Helgerson ‘24. The singles are also very solid this season including Megan Johnson as #1, Aspen Sage as #2, Dylynn Bayer as #3, and Natalie Graham, Amalia Hemker, and Emily Bell going for the #4 spots in singles. “Many of these girls put in extra hours over the summer and are now feeling comfortable in their flights and winning against some tough opponents,” says Coach Julie Kamela. Due to weather, a few meets have been rained out that won’t be made up, but the girls continue to work hard through that difficulty. Many girls are new to the tennis team which is great to see. They all love to work hard in practice, so it’ll show in competitions. The next competition is a quad at home on Saturday, September 14th.
