This school year, the library got over twenty lego sets for students in commons to work on. After asking Mrs. Schwier about why she got the legos, her response was “I got the Legos to be something soothing and calming for the students.” Legos can help improve people’s mood during the day. Mrs. Schwier talked about Makerspace. “Makerspace is a way for students to be creative and comfortable in a space,” says Schwier. This all started 2 years ago after a student in the high school told Mrs. Schwier that puzzles helped with her anxiety. The girl then got over 14 people to help her with the puzzles. Since she found comfort and relief in the puzzles, Mrs. Schwier found that Legos have been popular and thought students would like them. Mrs. Schwier started with smaller Lego sets and is now getting larger and harder ones. “I love working on legos, it is so relaxing,” says Alexis Trochinski.
