I have wrestled and watched wrestling for my entire life, and I have always been fascinated by the best of the best and their dominant runs. These are 5 of the best ever, and their dominant careers.
One of the most dominant ever seen was Alexander Karelin. Coming out of Russia he was known for being able to throw the best in the world around like ragdolls. He ended his career with a record of 887-2. He earned many awards such as Being crowned a hero of the Russian Federation, winning the Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR award 2 times, and being crowned the greatest wrestler of the 20th century by the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles.
One of the greatest Olympic wrestlers of all time was Mijaín Lopez from Cuba. He is the only person ever to win 5 gold medals in one event. During the last few years of his career, he only competed in the Olympics and ignored all other international competitions, including the world championships.
When it comes to American folkstyle wrestling, few have been more dominant than Carter Starocci. He is a four-time NCCA national champion and has the opportunity to become the only five-time champion ever.
Even though women’s wrestling has only been around for a short time compared to men’s wrestling there have still been some very dominant competitors. One of the most dominant has been Amil Elor. She recently won the Olympic title in Prais and also won the previous 2 world championships. She has not lost a match since 2019 and has outscored her opponents 322-16.
Although he is relatively unknown Burvaisar Saitev is one of the most dominant ever. He won 3 Olympic golds and 6 world championships in his career. He also exploited a loophole in the rules to win a match with a score of 34-2. He retired after the 2008 Olympics with an international record of 46-2.
