1. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation channels the energy of Christmas past. As the holiday approaches, Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) desires a perfect Christmas, so him and his family go to beyond measures to purchase the perfect tree. On top of a excessive tree, Clark invites extended family over for Christmas. Everything is “normal” for the holiday with excited grandmothers and crazy aunts until, hick cousin, Eddie decides he wants in on the fun.
2. Home Alone
Family vacation always goes smoothly, right? Well for the McCallister family, traveling with extended family is stressful. With a full house, emotions get heated and wishful thinking arises. Before they know it, they have left for the airport, but not everyone is there. Kevin, wishinging everyone was gone, wakes up in a house home alone, and he soon realizes that he is the man of the house.
3. Elf
Buddy the elf (Will Ferrell) grows up in the North Pole with all of Santa’s elves. As he reaches adulthood, he notices he doesn’t quite fit in, so he travels to New York to find his real father, Walter. Walter attempts to start a relationship with his childlike son Buddy, but the results end up chaotic.
4. Christmas with the Kranks
Finally alone for christmas, Luther and Nora Krank decide to embark on a Caribbean Cruise instead. Their over decorative neighbors, Vic Frohmeyer and Walt Scheel, disapprove of this idea because of their desire to win the most decorative neighborhood. This results in the Kranks feeling left out and leads to extreme measures taken.
5. A Christmas Story
Ralphie Parker spends the majority of his time avoiding the school bully, and wishes for “Red Ryder air rifle” for christmas. Ralphie struggles to make it to Christmas Day with his glasses and his hopes intact. The film has a cheeky sense of humor to aid in the story’s thrilling plot.
6. Santa Clause Movies
Divorced dad Scott, has his son for Christmas Eve. When he accidentally kills Santa by scaring him off the roof, they are magically transported to the North Pole where an elf explains how Scott must take the place of Santa.
7. Christmas Chronicles 1 and 2
Kate and Teddy Pierce hatch a plan to catch Santa on Christmas Eve. When their plan goes to ruin, the sneak a ride on his sleigh. As a result, Santa crashes causing them to lose all of the presents along with the reindeer. Santa tells them that he has to get back to delivering presents as soon as possible or else Christmas Spirit will be gone, explaining that the last time it happened, the Dark Ages occurred. Christmas Chronicles 1 takes us on a journey of restoring Christmas. Christmas Chronicles 2 has a different twist to it. When the parents decide to go on a tropical vacation, Kate gets kidnapped by an evil elf and is used by him to get into the North Pole to ruin Christmas.
8. The Polar Express
A young boy, after losing the Christmas Spirit, embarks on a magical adventure to the North Pole on the Polar Express, while learning about friendship, bravery, and regaining his belief in Christmas.
9. Jack Frost
Touring musician, Jack Frost, never had that much time for his family. After Jack’s tragic death, Charlie, his son mournfully plays a tune for his father on his harmonica. To his surprise, it brought to life his father through snowman form. Him and his father struggle to make up for lost time.
10. Miracle on 24th Street
Doris Walker discovers drunk Santa during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. While escorting him away, Doris learns that he calls himself Kris Kringle and he claims to be the actual Santa Claus. While being babysat one night by Kris, little girl Susan shares with him her Christmas wish: she would like a dad, a house pictured in the Cole’s Christmas catalogue, and a baby brother. Kris states to her that if she believes in Santa her dreams will come true.
