On January 8th, our West Salem DECA team went to districts at UW- Stout. At districts, everyone had separate categories that they worked on with a partner or individually. Krish Patel placed 2nd in the hotel and lodging management category. Kate Fitzgerald and Marina Thompson placed 2nd in Business Law and Ethics Team Decision Making. Katharine Horstman placed 2nd in Apparel and Accessories Marketing. One new freshman Ethan Crusan placed 2nd in Principles of Finance. Noah Stewart Placed 1st in Principles Marketing, and Evan Noel placed 3rd in Principle of Finance.

This year, the group has devised a system to ensure they are prepared for state. Competitors will be taking 5 practice tests before the state competition as well as 2 practice role-plays is great because, starting at the freshman level, by senior year, they should have a lot of experience and will be able to compete competitively.

The group has a new advisor this year, Mrs. Hinkle. She has been a DECA advisor for many years at past schools. “The year has been great so far and I’m looking forward to seeing how everyone competes at future competitions,” Krish Patel said.

The Wisconsin DECA president is our very own Kate Fitzgerald. The DECA officers for West Salem are Max yahnke, vice president of communications. Krish Patel and Alyssa Kruse School Store Manager. Marina Thompson, president of West Salem DECA. Morgan Quackenbush, vice president of event management.
