Balancing Work and School

Having to work a job and managing time for homework is not an easy task, but Junior Skye DeBoer and Junior Elliot Kruse have some amazing tips on how to help balance it all.

Kruse likes his job working for Kwik Trip. He works around 10 hours a week. “I make time for my homework by being productive in class, and using my study hall wisely,” says Kruse. “My advice for you is to not worry about how many hours you work in a week during the school year, just remember to have fun. It can sometimes be stressful but try to slow each day down and plan it out, especially if you’re in a sport.”

DeBoer has just a little bit of a different story. She also works at Kwik Trip. She enjoys her job and the people she works with. Usually she works as little as 5 hours up to 20 hours a week.

“I try to set my availability during the week so I get home at a good time,” says DeBoer. “Doing it that way, I have enough time to do homework or relax for the night. Some advice I would give you to help manage work and school is to not overwork yourself. If you are worried about getting too stressed about work, just tell your manager you are only comfortable with working a set amount of time each week.”
