The 2023 girls basketball season has begun. This year, the team consists of 10 varsity athletes. With only one senior, the junior group must step up. The captains are Reece Sackett ‘24 and Megan Johnson ‘25.

The team has played a few games since the season started with a kickoff home game against Viroqua on November 28th where they dominated 84-26. Maclaine Heilman ‘25 says, “The game against Viroqua was very fun and we all played well.”

Next up they defeated Central at home on November 30th by over 20 points.

Another recent game was at Onalaska on December 2nd where the score was much closer, but they still ended up on top.

“I have been having so much fun playing with my friends. I think we will do well this season. I think it’s an awesome experience to be younger on the varsity team because there are so many people to look up to” says Josie Brudos ‘26. This is her second year on this team and she’s scored many times in the past few games.

The Panthers have also beat Arcadia and Black River Falls in conference play before losing a tight match against Hudson on December 9th.

The lady cats are taking on GET at home on December 15th. Junior post Makena Ihle says, “I think we will continue to do good things for the rest of the season during conference and would love to see some fans at our next game!”
