December Breakfast of Champions

December+Breakfast+of+Champions

What is the Breakfast of Champions? At West Salem High School each department picks an outstanding student. These students get credited for all their hard work and ambition.

For the month of December, 11 students were picked: Senior Delaney Jostad, Junior Camden Glass, Senior Natalie Graham, Junior Jack Beron, Senior Sydney Laursen, Sophomore Natalie Wright, Sophomore Lexus Nelson, Freshman Breeley O’Donnell, Senior Payton Greer, Senior Andrew Jankowski, and Sophomore Olivia Borowski.

Senior Natalie Graham was nominated by Mr. Brown who is the art teacher. “Natalie is an independent study student who at this point is in charge of loading and firing the kilns, ordering the glazes, and helping me make sure that all other aspects of the clay studio are running smoothly. Her work is impeccable, and students look to her as a leader in all things clay! Plus, her sense of humor is amazing!” says Brown.

Junior Jack Beron was nominated by Spanish teacher Mrs. Maxwell. “I have Jack in Spanish III this year and I also had him in Spanish II last spring. He comes to class ready to learn and is always excited about the activities we are working on. His contributions to class are not just his sense of humor. When we have class discussions Jack often has unique perspectives that cause the whole class to think deeper about the topic. His positivity is infectious. He is always a joy to have in class and I can say there is NEVER a dull moment in our second hour,” says Maxwell.

When Beron was told he got student of the month he said, “I was very shocked to get the news because I was only 40 minutes late so I was just grabbing my daily late pass. Once I realized it was for student of the month I felt very accomplished and proud of myself,” says Beron.

The next Breakfast of Champions will be help Friday, January 12th in the LMC at 7am.
